Can anyone help in identifying a pair of valve covers I just got for '49-'62 Cadillac. They are Aluminum finned 'Pribble' and they look exactly the same as a pair of 'Hildebrandt' I have with bumps on the top for adjustable rocker arms. It was said that these valve covers and pro made steel 6x2 intake came off the same motor from a '50s/'60s hot rod or dragster.
Who the **** is 'Pribble?! a company or a drag race teams name?
    Cheers!

I don't have any answers for you, but if you haven't heard of the maker, they're probably worth a friggin' mint. Cad stuff is more spendy then flathead stuff in most cases.

I've seen Edmunds VC's for Cad motors get stupid prices on ebay. The obscure speed part market is not a place for shallow pockets.

    Dean
ps. I have few rare pieces for sale too if anyone is interested Ill do a list?

  4. sold my Caddy cause my boy RANDY's old man swiped my free valve covers !!! And Dean I have seen a pair of those valve covers at a swap before and wondered about them too. The guy selling them had no clue as to any history on the maker and I still want my Magnum 500 CD!!!!!! Guess I'll just have to come BACK over to Hemsby again and bug yer *** for it oh yeah and try getting Caddy flat motor stuff, even rarer.

    Hi Dean,

We have spoke in the past, I am the the guy who is STILL looking for a ZC303 Mallory for my Cad motor, I also have the the Horne 4x2 bbl for a Caddy [IMG] I would have to say that those are a one off set of modified covers. I looked at my Hildebrandts and those look identical as far as the casting. Probably just milled the name of and recast their name into the section. Get me the list of stuff that you have for sale, I have a few things that I might be interested in selling/ trading too!

  16. I have been into Caddies for over 10 years and have never in my life seen such a pair of valve covers nor heard of them,is looks to me that they are Hildebradnts with someones name on them though,,,?? Nevertheless they are worth alot of coinage..All Cad stuff is now...I had **** loads of Cad Goodies I bought for next to nothing and sold it all when the prices went up.I like to see **** like this its great!!

    Hi Davey,
If you sent me a PM I didn't get it, wasn't sure if you were talking to me or Kid Rocker. Here are a couple of pictures of my Hildebrant Cadillac valve covers, they are different in that they have been drilled for a 2 bolt mount like the Olds of the era, and like early 49 Cads had (I think?!?). Must have been on a early motor at some point in their travels, need a little work, but the price was right [IMG]

This is a set of early stock covers that if you look closely you can see that they have been "dimpled" to make room for the room needed for adjustable rockers. They were plated pretty good, but they do show their age.

And here are a set of stock rocker arms that have been modified to use Ford(?) ends so that you could run solid lifters or high lift cams with stock push rods. I don't know if this is for a set of early heads or if it will fit the later 59-62 motors.

    Hope these help. [IMG]

brock;those are probably studebaker rocker arms, they use the same diameter shaft as cadillac.

I don't know if they are Stude or not, as you can tell by the picture I have not even cleaned them up. They came to me with the the dimpled valve covers. Yorgatron, do you know what the shaft dia. should be? I only have a service manual for the 1961 motor. I know that they came out of a early Caddy. Which I could have got the cam and lifters too, oh well.

By the way have you all seen the cad powered 32 roaster at www.pacific hot rods.com It belongs to a friend who is mostly responsible for getting me into early cads. Thanks Lorne

If anyone is selling a set of old chrome Cadillac Script valve covers (no dimples needed), please let me know. I'd love a set for my 55 Cad powered A.

    Thanks,

    jay
