CADLIGHTS... The distributor...

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Travis, Nov 18, 2003.

  1. Got confirmation from the www.348-409.com boys that your distributor is indeed a 409 truck distributor. Apparently it has a governor on it?? They offered a couple of suggestions... like this...

It is! I have the same dist. It was on the 409 engine that is in my 60 now. The engine was in a frame that was once a tractor trailer rig. I removed the dist gear and it now does duty as a pre oiler.

    And this...

If you want to have some real fun, take the band off it and try to remove the governor valve without destroying it. That's the thingie that stops this dist from coming apart easily.

Clue, there's a spring inside it, make the spring longer, governor valve doesn't work correctly.

Anyway... that sums it up. You probably wont get a whole lot of interest in it unless you find some dude restoring a 5-ton truck and needs one of those.
