I can't help you on the filters, but I wanted to remind you that these are the same scoops that cost D.W. SEVENTY horse power on the dyno. SEVENTY!!

    They look cool though.....

    See ya, -Abone.

    REALLY!!!

Well, maybe i'll reconsider and just use the open element's i have on it now..
I don't mind losing a bit 'cause it's more of a street car than all out drag, but thats a LOT...

    Thanks for the tip.

Haha! 70HP is correct. Found that out tuning the car on the dyno. Too bad cause they look SO good on there!

I made screens to fit inside them to keep small children from being sucked in haha!

Man that's CRAZY! It also sucks 'cause i love the look of them.
Screen's were my first thought too.

But, regardless if it's a drag car or not, i'm not going to lose 70HP just for scoops.
Might just have to relist them....or hang em on the wall..

    Thanks for the info guy's.

  8. I have to ask though. 70 off of what? A high reving engine requiring a lot of flow would lose power if the height is short, where a mild motor may not see much if any ill effect.

Well, i don't know what DW's dyno runs were, but i have an idea judging from his 1/4mi times.
And my motor is a blown 331 chevy thats a solid 500hp on the low side. Has not been dyno'd, but it's without a doubt all that with whats in it and 7lbs of boost.
So, 70 off 500 or above.

  10. In that case, Ill pay shipping and dispose of those crappy scoops for you :D

600 hp small chevy. Even so...they are so restrictive that I suspect that running just one on a stock engine w/ a single 4bl... one would find that it behaves as a choke.

At one point I dreamed of swiss cheesing the bottom side of the scoops to help em breath. Not sure how effective this would really be though. I'd probably just wind up ruining some cool old scoops.

Damnitt. Now y'all have me wanting these back on the coupe:rolleyes:

  16. I doubt that would help. Like you said, it acts like a choke. The height is too low that it slows the air flow. The only thing that would work is to slice the base and raise the top away from the opening, IMO.

  17. thanks prewar, damn those are bad ass. put one on my car it probably wouldn't even start.

d.w., couldn't you run them when your not racing? I'm thinking a guy could get around town ok on 530 hp. ha ha.

I hear ya prewar...the fact that they are so low profile is what makes the look for me.
They look like mini scott type injector hats down snug against the blower!

50merc...yeah, only 530ish i know Lol! I did just that for about a year or so. looks killer but she idles so fat that my eyes burn and throttle response is....like I've got a choke set HAHA!

Some decent pics of em on the coupe in my profile album.

Thats what i started thinking after i read the dyno loss, they had to restrict the airflow at lower rpms too..
I wish they worked better..I freakin' dig em.

IF you ever did modify your's and got around the restriction of em please let me know! :)

But Badger scoops came with a section of a standard round air cleaner. I have no idea which one. The sections in my NOS scoops had no numbers. Measure the depth of the scoop and then measure some air cleaners. They are simple to pop out when you get to the show if you don't like the look.
