how difficult is it to get a car with repro rails (no vin) regged in california? i've heard of people doing it, but i'd like to know how - and especially to keep it smog free.

planning a project and it all starts with the frame. i'm leaning towards repro frame...but i hear over and over again that vin is critical.

    thanks.

don't worry about the frame. As long as the body has a tag or number stamped somewhere on it, the verifier (chp, sherriff, city police, or DMV) will sign off on it. You'll need a form from the DMV. They'll have you take it to the agency of your choice to have it signed off. Local PD is your best bet. If it's a truck you'll have to get it weighed, if it's a car that's all you'll need.

  3. Stamp the frame go to AAA (not DMV), get it verified, your done.
