My youngest son will be moving to California later this year. He has a Model A coupster that we built down here in Florida and it is registered in Florida. My question is "What kind of BS is he going to go through to get this car registered in California?" I know that getting one from California and getting it registered in Florida is no big deal. Have the local law enforcement verify the VIN number and go down with that paper in hand and get your registration, ***le and tag. If some of you that have gone through it would answer this I would greatly appreciate it. Robert
Shouldn't be any big deal as long as he has current FL paperwork, including a ***le that matches the VIN on the car. Same dance, get the VIN verified, pay the nominal fee, and wait for the ***le to show up... BRT
I agree with the earlier posts . However , should something come up I would advise going to a registration ***istance company . Once you start going down the wrong road with the DMV in CA . you will start having thoughts of committing sepuku .Been there , done that . An RA company will make it better . If in the San Diego area I can give you a number of one of the best .
I have found that at the local DMV they can be a pain about accepting a VIN certified by local or CHP cops. So I just take the car down and they check it themselves. Easy.
For the money, The cost of a AAA membership is worth it just for it's Vehical registration services. I just registerd a car from Nevada yesterday. Took it to AAA, handed them the paperwork, THEY verified the VIN, I paid the fees, they gave me new plates. All in less then 20 mins. with no apointment.
Here is a thought leave it under the florida reg, it has got to be cheaper. another way if he is ever planning on returning, leave the ***le in fla and just reg it in ca.
AAA is the way to go. They will handle everything, and "suggest" to you what you need to say and do, to do the deal.
