Hey any of you guys here in CA, I need some advice for a ***le. I picked up a 30/31 Ford A that I am going to build a simple bucket type roadster. Like any of the cars of this age, it did not come with a ***le or vin number. What do you recommend for getting this car ***led? Thanks Gerry

Correction: Model A Fords did come with VINs and ***les. The VIN was located on the side of the engine block as well as on the left frame rail, covered by the splash apron. You are usually better off trying to re-establish the VIN than to go through the Specially Constructed Vehicle route. I'd suggest you let a professional handle it like a vehicle verifier or the spe******t at the Auto Club.
Thanks, it did come with a frame, so I will see if there is a readable number and try that route first.
Ya got to wonder why Ryan even has the search function enabled!! what is this the 25th post on this in the past month.
1st- Quit asking this question on here or all kinds of old men will tell you that you are gonna go to jail. 2nd- HOPE and PRAY that your frame has a number on it. 3rd- Call C.A.R.S in Temecula, CA. - PM me
By the way, VIN or vehicle identification number was not a term back then. There were body numbers, engine numbers and ch***is numbers. http://www.sizes.com/society/vehicle_identification_numbers.htm This may be nitpicking, but there isn't a VIN number for older cars, and if you go searching for paperwork with a VIN, or mention to the clerk at your local DMV that you have a VIN for a 1930 vehicle, you will be telling them you don't know what you are talking about. This will set you up for a fall, one way or the other. Just like the addict that goes to the doctor and describes the wrong thing hoping for the happy juice, it gives away the fact that you don't know what you are talking about.
Just do a search and you'll find lots of suggestions. If you still have questions then ask away. You'll be able to get a ***le for this car but you will have to jump through some hoops and it may cost around $150
