Okay, so my mill is pretty much all together except for the oil pan, and I keep thinking that I should replace the stock rod bolts with something from ARP, but they don't make anything specifically for a 390 Cadillac (1959 mill). Anybody out there in Hamb land know of any bolts that would interchange with the Caddy rod bolts? I was just reading the article in Rotten Custum about their 324 Olds build up and that they were gonna use ARP rod bolts for a big block Chysler cuz they interchanged....kinda hoping for something like this for the Cadillac....any info is always welcome....
Wow...hadn't really thought of that....ahhh the wise Wingnutz...thanks for the help man....am i gonna see you at St. Paul next week?
i don't know if this helps or not,but i'm using big block MOPAR ARP rod bolts in my '54 olds engine.they might be similar enough for cad.i wouldn't swap in ARP bolts unless i was getting the big ends re-sized though-george
Just out of curiosity, where do you guys get your ARP bolts and studs? Direct from ARP or a through a shop? Can I get them over the internet? Thanks. --Matt
So yorgatron, just a question out of ignorance, why not swap out the bolts without getting the big end resized?
Try Big Block Chevy..I know a guy who was using Big Block Rods on his 390 somehow...I dont know the details anymore..
