A good buddy of mine just got a restored 36' Chevy on the road, problem is it pukes coolant after just a short while.

Question is, since the system is'nt pressurized, will a catch can siphon back into the radiator ? Or was adding coolant just a everyday occurance with these older cars.

    Thanks for the help.

It may be over heating because its' plugged or partially plugged up. after it's warmed up feel the radiator in several places to see if it has hot and cooler spots.
Another thing. it isn't a closed recovery system, it needs expansion room in that expansion tank up there. Some radiators had a plate soldered in them an inch or so down from the neck. only fill it till it gets to that point, or if there's some, any coolant in the top tank at all, don't fill it up like you do a pressurized system because it's just going to expand a quart of it out anyway.
Also, check to see that the timing is correct and the advance mechanisms are working.
Running retarded will make an engine over heat quicker than a goose can shit.
