Pinstripers Lets see your paint boxes! Heres mine, Its a Black Hawk Porta-Power Case from the late 40's early 50's. Its empty because my paint is scattered all over my paint room. I collect small designs from different pinstripers at all the shows I go to.
My wife bought me this a few years ago for my birthday. She got it at lowes. It's two tiered and has wheels (which is great). It has enough room for all my paints, brushes and even gallon paint thinner cans. Works great. Oh yeah and I painted my likeness on it.
An old journeyman sign painter gave me his Chicago-style sign kit. I built a new wood box to surround the original drawers, added a second long drawer and widened it to accept another row of four square kit cans. It has a hinged fold-down drawer with magnetic latches and a flip-out drawer pull that holds the door level when open.
Very COOL, one of these days I hope to have one!! Right now I only have two brushes and 2 cans of one shot!!!LOL I see where all the cool 50's purses have gone!!!
Here's a few of mine. The first one is my current box.The others are either ones I have used or made up to sell.
Okay, so I dug my old paint kit out that I painted back in the '80s when hand pinstriping was pretty common, and striped my Grandson's pedal car I built for him. Now with "old school" striping becoming popular, I might just have to get a new box, clean out the old brushes and start doing some striping again.
And this is what the well equipped sign painter/striper used around 1930.Brushes are held in old metal cigarette boxes.Owned by Carl Stoiber of Toledo Ohio.
A little late but.......here's my box. A freind at work gave it to me. He raced go-karts from the early 60's into the eighties, and his mother ran registration all that time, and even into the '90's. This box was the first aid kit for the Tacoma Kart Club. Still has the plaque. Fits all the brushes and paint I need..
Great idea I was thinking about starting a thread for this today....Anyway here is my paint and brush box.My paint box is an old slot car box from the 50's......
Neat thread. Thanks for sharing your madness. If any of you stripers have a Web site with your own domain name, please E-mail me your URL if it is not yet linked to the "Painters and pinstripers" section on this page: http://www.roadsters.com/art/ Dave http://www.roadsters.com/
