I picked up this small block and trying to figure out what I have. Is this a 327????? Rear stamp on block is #3914678 1968 302,327,350 Right Front stamp is #vii22yk ????? Crank casting # 4672 307,327 crank
YK is a 65-66 Truck 327 185hp 2bbl C60 manual trans OR 68 Truck 327 L73 turbo 400 with 4bbl carb C10 or C20 block casting number jives with the above suffix codes
Mike is quicker than I am. I checked nastyz28 site and they said YK is 1968 327, truck 3 speed and 240 hp.
New one on me I didn't know they did factory LP gas rigs. I thought they were all conversions. According to this one TBA can be a 70/70 conventional cab or a 79 conventional cab http://www.chevy-camaro.com/chevy-camaro-chevy-engine-suffix-codes.asp?group=6 This one reads the same http://www.nastyz28.com/gm-chevy-codes/chevy-engine-codes-suffix-6.php Truck block at any rate.
The casting date code on the back of the block will tell you what year it is, that's pretty helpful if you really want to know what you have.
I have a GM small block engine looking to find out any INFO. ? K1906TKL, C8 109033 any info would help...
Bought a motor out of a s**** yard once... I asked for a 350 4-bbl motor out of a '70 Chevy or GMC pickup.... When I tore it down, it had 4-bolt mains and a steel crank..... The block needed a .030" over bore job... No biggie, I had it done and the folks at the shop set me up with a set of TRW L2304 pistons.... Once I completed the block ***embly, I bolted on a set of "186" casting heads and Z/28 intake that my brother in law gave me.... That motor ran like a ****d ape....
So do you think this is a 305 ? My buddy didn't undertand the casting date question evidently so this is all I have, which points to a 262 or a 305. I think it all points to a 305ci., he was told the engine was a Jegs crate motor when he bought the car but with 8.57 times it's got to be a 305 or that 262...lol Head 354434 Block 355909
