Technical Calling all Upholsterers...

I have a friend that is in the market for an industrial sewing machine and I was asked what the best all purpose machine would be. There is potential budget of $1500. The machine would be used for canvas, leather, vinyl and really any of the thicker materials that could be needed. Brands such as Consew and Juki are known, but what I'm really looking for are specific models of the more well known brands. Any input is greatly appreciated!
