I has fun FED project going on, and this was not planned but I had some 392 early Hemi parts I came over both hotrod and old race stuff and came over a Hiborn inrction. The hotrod engine vill be a basic 392 with a vintage Weiand dual Carter intake but it will not come into my Henry 32 5W coupe, so it will has FH ) as planned. But over to the FED. I had a older race prepped max bore 392 block with inner splayed caps ( not filled ) and Velsco 3.90” stroke with inner counterweights. I order a set H-beam rods from my buddys AutoVerdi. No pistons is order yet but CP or Ross 12-14 at compression. Fuel will be alkohol. I has a magneto and a Hilborn adapter ( but I migh go for a front mounted pump ) Heads is the ’tripple ’nickel’ 555 from 1953 early Hemi 331 and 2.125”/1.8” from Hot Heads and br*** valve guides. I don’t know flow but my cam do .600” lift so I think std they flow modest 220 cfm max ( or ? ) So non ported and with bigger intake valves, do they flow 300 ? Ideas ? The ch***ie will be build this winter from a shop ( mild steel vs budget and I’m not going plan go faster than 5.0 on 1/8 mile ) but I bought so far a PG trans housing with SFI parts and a Olds 57 rear end housing and a aluminium made fuel tank. My idea is has a decent easy maitance engine or operation. With a cood combo I guess I can go pretty ( fun ) fast with only 500 HP. Depending on HP so 5.50 cant be out of reach ( people with exoeriance ? = ) But on the cam ; I has a older race Isky cam ( se results from camdoctor ) so 106 CL and .600 in lift and @.500 it’s 290 degree. I has Trend hard lifters flat tapped. -So what can I expect from this engine combo ( I’m not planned to go roller cam or port the heads. ideas ?
I won't guess on performance, but can't wait to see pics when it's together. A FED with an injected 392 on alky should put a permanent smile on your face!
