whats a good choice for a cam in a 292y block. its in a 1959 f350 i plan on an aluminum intake, 4bbl carb, alumn pistons and i have a set of goos headers. i just dont know what will work good with that combo and still give me a nice lope.

A lot more to it than that. You say it s an F350 - so a big heavy truck. What kind of gears, how do you plan to use it - this kind of stuff is much more important!

Go here http://www.compcams.com/Company/CC/CamRecommendation/CamHelpNew.aspx and let the experts do it for you, they know a hell of al ot more than 99.9% of the "experts" on here.

  3. I ran a stock thunderbird cam in my 312 until I broke it way back when. It had good low end grunt and sounded good at least to me.

If you are interested in an Old timey camshaft for your Y block you really want to contact Isky or Erson. They were grinding cams for y blocks back when Y blocks were still a common engine and they will still have blanks and profiles for them.

For your F-350 you are in theory going to want a cam with low end grunt. Normally low end grunt and lope are not two things that you get from the same camshaft.

That's right; 1 ton trucks aren't the vehicle for a camshaft that starts to make power at 3000 rpm.

  5. Well maybe if it is a Bonneville bound ton truck.

here's a question if you got a ton Ford that is a land speed vehicle, do you use a Peterbuilt for a pusher?
