My 305 SBC has a topend cam,(Compcam 280H) & I was going to add bushing(Advance, retard)to get some low end out of it.
    Its pushing a basic T bucket, stock stall, th350, 2.80 rear end,about 1500#'s.
So what should do, advance it or retard it & how many degrees?
    thanks

already ground 4* advanced. Your best bet is to find some gears for that rear.

Yea...go for the gear.... a 280 grind is TOO MUCH CAM for that motor no matter what ! ....1500 lbs. shouldn't be hard to move anyhow.......

Advance it another 4 it will take some of the top end away and put it lower where you need it.I agree bad gears for that cam< but light car I would advance it.--Feder
