Ok looks like that funky tube axle/welded batwings set up I posted before may have to be s****ed.....the batwings seem to "flex" aka "bend" inward at the top where the spring mounts to them....thus flexing the axle and giving me a difference from the top of the tire to the Bottom a difference of an inch(inch narrower at the top)...this is too much yes? If it is too much I am thinking of just ponying up the $$$ on a I-beam axle kit on Speedway and addind the '28-'48 "forged" spindles they have...but damn I am cheap and hate thinking of all the wasted time and $$ I have into this set-up....
1" sounds like a TON to me. My old coupe (X-G***er) has on OLD "race" tube axle in it that was SET UP this way from the factory - I'm NOT exactly sure why - I just always thought it had something to do with less drag - just a guess. ANyways mine is the opposite of yours - having a larger distance on the TOP than the bottom - as a result I pretty much beat up tires - no shocker there huh??? So will it work - yeah it''l work. Will you LIKE it. Probably not. Is it SAFE??? That's the REAL QUESTION. And the answer IMHO is that it is probably marginal. A light car meant to go pretty much in straight lines - it works - anything else???? One can only guess.
Got lost at "posted before"... How about a link to what the hell you're talking about? The other thread?
I personally wouldn't drive past the sidewalk on any axle that "bends" enough to change the caster as you describe. I guess I'm a wuss.
yeah Flatman it was the green axle ...i think it is time for a new set up....damn...this ****s.. DRJ, it was this set-up
