Governors Hall in Sailwinds Park, heated indoor spaces plus car corral and outdoor spaces. See www.aaca.org/bay/country and www.sailwindscambridge.com Breakfast from 7 AM.
Been giving it some thought. I see breakfast is at 7am. Does the actual swap meet open at 7 also? Thanks.
Cambridge has a swap meet worth going to? I grew up on the shore and most of my family still lives there. Kind of hard to believe Cambridge has an indoor heated swap meet worth crowing about. But, would be a pleasant surprise if so. I wanted to buy an older home around Easton/Cambridge area for future retirement, but my wife isn't too keen on the idea. If they at least have a good swap meet, I might need to rethink the idea again and make a second effort on that. Houses are WAY cheaper than around here, but she is worried about no work and not much to do. Which are valid points of course. But, that's why it's cheaper there. Still, would be nice to retire there and if is any kind of decent traditional car stuff there aside from the typical muscle cars and 4x4's, that would be cool.
I hope to be there if the weather is reasonable. If it's not too cold there will be some regular folks selling their extras outside. It can be really cold, being on the water but some years it's not too bad. As always it's more of a BS session with guys you haven't seen in a few months. Don't expect to find any Eddie Meyer heads but I picked up a Sun tach there one year.
I have heard good things about this swap never been myself but going this year looking for pickup parts plus that its ony like a 30 minute ride.
Not much to do? I'll bet she would just love the National Outdoor Show and the World Muskrat Skinning contest. A contender can skin a "rat" in about 30 seconds!
I'm planning on going. I've been there before. Even if I don't buy anything It's a great mental health day.
Man, I didn't know about that skinning contest, but my father probably does. When I was a little kid, his hunting club use to hang up all the skinned muskrats in their hunting lodge to dry out. I still remember how bizarre and creepy that looked and thought how terrible it was to do that to the poor little dogs (I thought they were little dogs) that lived in the marsh. Knowing how they looked skinned and hanging, I never could eat any muskrat. But, yeah, I know all about them. Somehow, I doubt she will be into that much. She is cool with the duck hunting, but never have told her about the dogs.
