I'm attempting to remove the camshaft from a flathead V-12. Got it to start to come out, but the no. 3 bearing has a turned up lip (I think from a lifter contacting) and the camshaft end won't pull through. Can the bearing be cut or pounded out with the camshaft loose inside? Suggestions welcome.

  2. Assuming you are talking about a Lincoln V-12?

  3. If you had a lifter contact a bearing surface in a Lincoln V-12 you're probably past the point of any repair. Post a photo so we can see what's going on. Cam bearings are soft. Make a blade of some sort and carve off the offending lip.

Or just have the block hottanked. That will take care of the old bearing. Oh wait were not allowed to have those anymore.
