I'm sure they can and have seen a few, but I don't have pics. Did you try a search?

    No, just my opinion.

53 Ford 2 door sedans don't do it for me much less a 4 door.. The rear quarter window is too long. I have a 2 door.

I am sure that someone will come up with an example of one that looks good but I don't.

I generally hate all 4 doors but I've seen a couple dropped 52-54s that looked really good to me.
Mild custom is the best application I've seen with single color, nosed and decked, lowered [seriously] and decent interior, bodywork and rechromed bumpers.
I've seen them with un-polished salt-flats and with whitewalls with flipper hub caps.
Nothin wrong with a flat or semi gloss paint on these cars. Best one I saw was a light green semi-gloss 53 sitting in the weeds.

I think if you think it looks as good as a costum then fuck what other people say. I have a 4 door and i like it better than 2 doors.

Is it the car shown in this thread

    http://jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=608182&page=2

Because if it is, it looks good in the photoshop, basically stock but lowered and with skirts on it. One of the factory Ford sunvisors would look nice too. But if you're going to do any kind of customization that'll wreck the paint, then you may as well swap on the 2 door sedan doors and jambs. It's not that hard, they share a roof and front/rear glass openings.

You may be happy with the car and it may look OK to some; but it will always be a 4 door. I think you already know this.

I used to subscribe to the "you can't make a four-door look cool" school of thought, until I happened across the above Merc in another thread. Made me feel like a complete dick, I can tell you! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. How good are you? Do you get it? How far are you willing to go? How much cash do you have? These are all variables that will impact on the final results. But if anyone tries to tell you it can't be done, just show them that Merc and prove them wrong.
Best of luck on your project.

in my world this is an example of what not to do. I have no problem with 4 doors. I generally dislike 4 doors where the guy tries to hide it or does wierd things like cut the roof off.

you can make it look stupid or make it cool. it's all up to you.

I like 4-door cars. I can shuffle people in without having to get up and fold the seat, throw parts into the back seat too and get them out easily.

  17. 4-door cars are great! can be a bit challenging to get all the lines to flow nice, but it's just metal!

Nothing wrong with hiding it. A guy I knew had a 38 or 9 Willys. After a year I saw it with the rear door open, blew me away, I hadn't noticed it was a 4 dr before that. He'd shaved the rear handles & left the front ones stock. worked great!

Only if you weld 2 doors shut.

Front or rear doors, take your pick. =)

But seriously, there are some 4 doors that look okay. Hardtop 4 doors are always cool.

Damn It..not another one of those 4 door vs 2 door threads. They are called customs... it doesn't matter how many doors they have, most of the popular cars for being a custom require some sort major alteration... shaving, chopping, sectioning etc etc in order to make them "flow".They are called customs for a reason...yes 2 doors do usually look better from the factory, but they aren't customs. It's what has been done to the car that makes it a custom.

Look at it this way. You have two cars, one's a 2 door and one's a 4 door. You sink however much money into both. Which one is worth more? If it were me, I wouldn't sink much money into a 4 door, even though they can look cool. I wouldn't go much further than rims and lowering.

I vote yes. I personally am more drawn to custom 4 doors than 2 doors.

More doors can look just as good and are just as fast as a 2dr..Just my opinion of course...

That opinion is kinda the problem. That's why you don't often see nice more doors. People buy em and then don't want to sink any money into em because the risk loosing money on it if they decide to sell.
On the other hand you have the guys that DID sink the time and money into their four doors (and it shows) that make people forget that they were ever 4 doors.
If a custom is well done the last thing people should be doing is counting door handles.
