I just got these from Chromedrat. He is a ruler!!! I can't say enough about him and his skulls. He should post pics of them in the art show.

Each one he makes is a little different and he added the goatie on the Bomber just for me. THANKS! The other skull is nicknamed "Death by Bunga Bunga" It's going in my 48 ASAP and the bomber will go in my roadster when it gets done.

    Thanks again Chromedrat!

    Those are really cool.

I do have a suggestion though, and feel free to use this, Chromedrat.

Upon glancing at the image Clark posted, I thought it was the same skull and the jaw was hinged and could open. I see thats not the case......but it would be soooo cool if you made some like that.

Think about it...maybe even have it balanced in a way so that the jaw opens and closes as the car is going down the road.....like one of those bobble head dogs.

    THAT WOULD RULE!

    Very cool shift knobs!

I have no clue. I don't buy from moon.

Probably though. I probably ripped the idea off from somewhere else.....
Why do you think I was saying "feel free to use it" ;) :D :D

  9. Holy crap. I can see now I'm going to have $200 tied up in Chromedrat shift knobs.

Are these available to us common folk or are they only for the "special" people?

Yeh...I'm not sure when the new designs will be ready. He said he was going to put an add in the classifieds but a PM might get you one.

I don't have $200 in skulls yet but I want atleast one of every design he makes.

I posted about a year ago about the skull with the pilot cap on the gold car Rick Dore built and never could hut it down. It was a metal one.

I have the Moon resin skull pilot...its okay.

I really would like one of those skulls...is he selling more?

  15. Clark it could get better but it takes about 40 years of fondleing.;)

Seems like thwere is one helluva lot of tallent on the HAMB these days. That's a cool knob.

If you went with the hinged jaw deal, you should make it so closing the jaw will act as a reverse-lockout or something! Or at least wire it as a line-lock switch!!!:D

They are certainly cool enough without that, though.

  17. That is damn nice -- fantastic work! In the spirit of your post, I have to show you the shift knob I'm going to be using in my 34 coupe. I picked this up about 30 years ago and have just been waiting to have the right car to put it in. Wish I had a 100 of them . . . I believe the 50's purists would love em' . . .

This is from the piston manufacturer I always used to run on my flatheads -- as there were almost no forged pistons available in the 70's (ForgedTrue was long gone) . . . and I sure couldn't afford custom pistons.

Just need to make a little wrist pin "adapter" to work on my 39 style column -- will let it rock just like a piston does on a rod:

  19. Clark,

You're special no matter what you ride.

So these will be in production? If so want #32 of each.

I sent a PM to ChromedRat.

Graverobber, who does the hood ornament? I have one of the old original ones but it is missing the jaw.

heya fellas! first off, glad the mail went extra quick for clark. second, glad you guys like my new stuff. had these ideas in my head for a long time, and here they be. still working on the regular skulls at the moment, so it'll be a week or so before i get into the new stuff, but there'll be an opportunity to get ahold of them soon. right now i have 15 of each in metal, and i intend to cast more. price is gonna be 55$, which includes shipping, for this first run. gotta cut this short, as i need to get to the post office to mail some fine "aluminum overcast (whatcha think about da name??)" products on their way before the post office closes. thanks for the compliments by the way!

just to update, all of the rest of the pilot skulls are minus the goatee. clark wanted that special touch, much in the vein of the american bosche logo. pretty neat feature. not sure if it's been mentioend yet, but these are serial numbered, so #s 2-16 are available in each. i like the idea of each being pretty unique, so i numbered em. anyways, that oughta cover it. on these, shipping oughta be 5$ for one, like 8$ for two, and about 8 bucks to canada for one. if i'm off by 2 or 3 bucks on shipping i'll cover insurance or delivery confirmation out of the extra. before i go though, here's a little bit of what i've been up to and what i gotta get to before i do the finishing on the "bunga bungas" and pilots...

That is awesome work. Plus I hadn't thought of the old Death by Bunga Bunga joke in about ten years so it was also good for the extra laugh!

Death by bunga bunga. Classic. It's worth the money just as a conversation piece to tell that joke more.

How big are they? Can someone that has one post a pic with in there hand or next to something for scale?
