I don't like a woodgrained dash at all. My 33 coupe has one (the previous owner put it in). But I'm going to replace it with an all black dash outfitted with a vintage boat dashpanel and a Stude speedo..

Remember it's your car, your money , so do it YOUR way. Why do things to please the people that are not paying the freight.

Wow, this is a blast from the past. I still plan on doing it, but at the rate I'm going now, I'll just wait until we tear the whole car down for shiny paint.

  7. The dash in the 48 Chevy I'm buying has a woodgrain dash and I love it.

Wood grain and chrome dashes are cool unless you want a pastel, billet wheeled ,body colored bumpered, cry baby standing 90's kind of ride.

Woodgraining looks good.... but a real custom built wooden dash out of a nice exotic wood is even better...

I'm not sure I'd agree completely with that statement. There was a certain "this is not my parents's car" attitude that came out in hotrods and customs. Customs weren't chopped for speed but, when chopped an old man with his fedora wouldn't fit. It wasn't the only reason they were chopped but, it made a statement. This not an old man's car.
While I like woodgrain I don't think it fits a hotrod. A kid might paint over that just to erase the "old man" factor.
But hey if ya like woodgrain, go for it. I have a video on how to do wood graining, and It's neat stuff and looks like a fun project.
