can anybody decode a 1956 ford vin#

    Hello I found the vin# stamped on the front of my frame can anybody decode it for me. 1956 2 door parklane wagon. I dont have a door pillar tag, is there any way I can find orig. color and other things with just the vin #.thanks

    The color is a letter/s code stamped into a box on your missing plate. I don't think it was part of the Vin # but I don't know for sure. It's pretty easy to pull the door scuff plates to see what is under them. It won't tell you if it was 2 tone but it might give you a clue to the lower body color. My guess would be that a Parklane would be 2 tone. I think most were 2 toned. It may take some detective work but unless it had a very nice repaint there are probably clues behind door panels an such that will give you a good idea of how it came from the factory.
