...I pulled the transmission out of my shoebox today and discovered that the "keys" that ride in the brass synchro rings are fucked. I thought I just had a shifter problem, but apparently not. This is letting it get hung in gear. I figure if I'm going to tear it down to replace the keys and springs, then I might as well completely rebuild it. Not really that much more effort in the long run. So...I need a complete rebuild kit for a '63 Muncie M-20 with 7/8" counter shaft. It needs to be the kit with bearings, seals, gaskets, brass synchro rings, and small parts kit (keys and springs, etc.) The trans came out of a Corvette if that makes any difference. Anybody here have a good reliable source that can get a decent price? There's a kit on ebay right now for $90.00 + shipping that I'm keeping an eye on, but I'd rather spend my money with someone here or their friends. Also, if anyone has a Muncie parts transmission that they could spare the shift forks out of, I'm in the market for a spare set of those too. One of mine is starting to get grooved where it rides on the detent arm in the side cover. I'm beginning to wonder if there has been a transmission ever made that is Bass-proof.
I got my M20 rebuilt kit from Caltrans, in Santa Ana, CA. $149,-... Shift forks came seperate, for $99,-... Phone: 714-953-9282
