1952-59 Ford Can anyone ID this rearend.

    Any help would be great. This is the first Ford I've ever owned, so everything is kind of new to me. The drums say Ford along the edge, but I'm pretty sure this isin't the rearend that came in it.[​IMG]

    Looks like you have a ford 8.8 rear there...they dont have a center chunk to pull out like the ford 9" and 8". Cant see much of your pic there, but google ford 8.8 rear end and look at pics and see if thats what it is. Thats what most of your newer stangs, explorers, etc..come with

    Some '55's and '56's came with this type of rear, wagons, T-Birds and police applications. It was actually considered a stronger rear end at the time over the removable third member. That is, until '57, when Ford came out with the 9 inch.

    Google Dana 44 and click on images,some Fords usually Ranch Wagons came with these Dana 44 rears(see the 52-54 Shop Manual) it would be interesting to check a Hollander to see what interchanges as these were common in later Jeeps and others and can be fitted with a Posi.

    its either a 7.5 or an 8.8 . is there a tag under the cover bolt's? its a good rearend i got one in my car with plenty of stuff readily availible >
