There are no disc brake setups for these spindles, that I know of.

You'd want the 1937-on spindle. They will fit this axle, and accept a wide variety of brakes (Ford juice, Lincoln, disc, etc.)

Those sure look like '37 thru '41 Ford. Looks like someones done some trim work....they're normally completely round. Speedway makes a disc kit for em. Looks like the wrong kingpins are also being used.

Can you pull the nut and put a tape measure on it? Measure from the big flat surface on the flange, past where the seal rides, out to the tip of the spindle.

    That should tell the tale.

No flame intended but the fact that thet are not completely round indicates that thet are 32-36. The cross steering eye means they are 35 or newer. The length tell whether they are 35 or 36.

Hey turdytoo, do you know what the last year for side steer was? To clarify which was the last year that had the drag link steering arm as part of the top of the driver side spindle.

    thanks for all the replies
Im leaning towards going with a disc brake setup simply because the rear I have already has disc brakes installed
and I kind of want to get the car finished before the winter comes

so I think im gonna go ahead and get a set of the '48 chevy spindles with the
9 1/2" disc brake setup that speedway sells along with a set of tie rods to put on the ends of the split wishbones, some spring mounts, and the rest of the parts to finish up this front end

does anyone have any advise on using the speedway stuff
is it worth the money ?

Im on a super tight budget with this car and it is more of an unfinished type of build (I hate the phrase "rat rod")
so Im not looking for fancy chrome or expensive air bag type of supsensions etc.

    thank for any input

I believe the answer to that question lies in his post. 1934.

No problem. I get a small window of sharpness each day, and this happened to fall in it. I will be back to drooling and hitting stuff with a hammer, shortly.;)

You need to find 37-48 Ford spindles and the corresponding king pin. These will bolt to the axle you already have unlike the Chevy spindles. Speedway has the brake kit and you'll be on your way.

  14. I agree with the above postings. The axle is the same from 32-36, the spindles are 35-36. Can be narrowed down once measurements are made.

For your disk brakes find a pair of 42-48 spindle, commonly referred to as "Square Back" spindles. The 37-41 spindle will also work, they are commonly referred to as "round Back spindles. Either will work, Square backs will be more affordable.

okay thank I was a little confused from the speedway catalog
I was assuming the chevy style spindles fit which I know realize they wont

I'll be going with the 37-41 spindle style and Im going to use the 11" disc brake kit from speedway
    thanks again for everyones reply
