can i cut flaming river colmun????

my 28 inches colmun is too long can i cut 3 inches with no damages??? thanks for reply

 

I bought a 28" one in Loovul a couple of years back for a Track T project.
I pulled the plastic insert bushing out of the bottom, put a snug 6" long piece of wooden round stock up the tube, cut the tube with a tubing cutter, cut the shaft down the same length and replace the bushing. Worked like a charm.
