It could be a hambers, idk, but i absolutely love the style choices on this A. Obviously the fenders have been moved up but is it sectioned? Love the stance and the wheel/ tire combo. We all know thats the make/ break of any car. Any info would b appreciated. Thanks.

Black California plates, Firestone Indy tires on the rear. I bet that is not a current picture, I bet those were taken in the late sixties. Cool car...

They have not made gold line Firestone Indy tires since the early seventies

Coker is making Firestone Indy tires but I don't think they are the gold stripe. Firestone Indy tires come in blackwall form, but paint markers are available to paint the letters and pinstripe just like the old days.

I may be wrong, but these pictures look old to me. Running Indianapolis race tires on rods was popular in the late 60’s and early seventies.

Those images look sharp and clear like a digital camera was used. Unless they were professionally done back in the 60s for a publication? They just look too good for old pictures. I wonder if that sticker in the corner of the windshield could be enlarged?

My 1st impression as well, screams 1967.

I agree here too. The tones of the pictures are cleaned up but the "aura" of each looks proper. Coulda been digitized but still old. My take FWIW.

If so they ****ed it up.

I think it’s a lot better with the mags and A grill.

I believe I have an old rod and custom with this car in it. If it is the same one it was channeled the width of the A frame with the splash pans eliminated and the rear fenders moved up to put the running boards flush with the bottom of the body. Front fenders re-worked to no need the splash pans and the grille sectioned to make it all line up right.

Does not look sectioned to me. Rear wheel wells are moved up (the right way if you are going to section imo). If it is the same car, I like it better with the five spokes and Indy tires. But that’s all about the years I grew up reading R&C.

If it was a California hot rod from the seventies I bet @Pete Eastwood would know about it

  25. VERY common trick in the 70s, lose the splash aprons and drop the body down. I have several old mags with Tudors done this way

Front axle has a taper to the outer portion through the drop, so I think it’s a modern build. But a very convincing one in either guise.

Same car.....these are listed as Paul Barrow built, so looks like it was sold and redone. Demon Drone Wall of Death is in England as is Paul Barrow.

How cool is that…the owner/builder are in the UK and the whitewall version has those plates. But looks like he had some Cali plates made with the same number on them.
