I’m in the process of reorganizing my garage and I ran across this carb that came with my 58 Biscayne ten years ago, I had forgotten that I even had it.
It’s pretty rough looking, particularly the choke, can it be saved? I’d like to have an extra carb for my 55 Chevy. Both cars had 235 engines.
    Merry Christmas.

Let it soak for a while/clean/loosen things up.
What happened to the air cleaner thread rod ? Looks like somebody took a hammer to it and broke the threaded rod bracket.
You might be able to solder bead it back in place. Remove the bent tube and replace it.

The air cleaner rod was held in place by wire. The choke is filled with JB Weld, not a big deal since I would use a choke cable.

  4. With some good epoxy and maybe some screws into the casting for the air cleaner hold down.

On the other hand, I still pick these up for $5.00 sometimes, so I wouldn't put too much effort into that one.

I don't see anything there that would stop me. Tear it apart, clean it repair it and put it on the shelf. The Challenge is half the fun
