I was told I cant use the cross member on the 1965 c-10 Chevy Truck with the 1980 upper and lower A-Arms. Does anyone know if this is the case?

Use the complete 1980 crossmember. .disc brakes etc..
Mount the 80 brake booster and power steering box also..
It's been done many, many times..

Greetings! No, you can't use the later upper and lower control arms on the earlier crossmember. The control arms on the later crossmember are mounted differently.

The upper and lower A Arms seem to be same length and bolt up the same way. A couple of people told me it would work, and it looks like it will all fit, I am just not sure now because I am getting many different answers. Not sure what the right thing to do, especially based on these two posts. Thanks you guys..... still confused

The 1980 crossmember will bolt right in. The right way to upgrade as cheaply & efficiently as possible. I too have swapped these out several times. Sway bar too.

No. What do you not understand? The A-Arms will not 'bolt up'. Go ahead and try, the results will not be what you are trying to accomplish. Upgrade the '65 w/the entire cradle from a '73-up Chevy 1/2 ton.

Technically, with work, yes, but I have the same questions.

Why? You have the ability to put all of the better suspension in. What would be the reason for avoiding that?

You don't need to pull the engine to do this, either.

  10. I found out that you can hang 1-ton van A-arms up to '95 on a mid-60s truck, the whogeyamacallit they hang/pivot on is the same part.

What that would do for you, who knows. I was just looking because that particular beater, one of the bolts had rotted and the A-arm moved around a little. I concluded it wasn't worth the hassle to fix and junked it.
