how exactly did i fuck the last chop job i did. what, because i didnt sand the filler for a few months? Im preety sure i just got payed 11 grand for the car i fucked up so bad. Dont be pissed cause i finish what i start and actually have a car to drive. Sure the herpie had more bondo on it then most but fuck it was my first time chopping a car and i didnt have some metal god to bail me out like some people i know do. Maybe ill peek the hood i heard thats preety fucking easy. And i would not ask for you help if i needed it i can fuck it up well enough on my own, right?
Id suggest you get your own shit done and driving before you start worring about what im fucking up or not.

and i'd suggest if you can't handle a little constructive criticisim, don't ask for input on your ambitious plans.

if the chop on the herpie is what you call finished, then sure you can build a "complete" car in 3 weeks, but the last i seen, there were still pieces missing when you decided it needed a paint job more than a finished chop. don't be so shocked that there are some of us out here that respect quality work that may take some time to complete rather than the novelty of throwing something together as quick as you can.

with that said, good luck...and don't get too upset, but might i suggest that it might be easier to just drop the suspension the needed amount than channeling the body. you and your elves can chop it and work on the suspension at the same time, you CAN'T chop it and channel it at the same time. you could probably manage to z the frame up front and notch it in back in a day or two, i guarantee it would burn up many more days channeling it.

Wow! Keep us posted on this, I'd love to see how this turns out. It took me two weeks to get my old wagon on the road (wiring, drivetrain, breaks and interior) but to chop, channel and get it all back together and running will be amazing. Take lots of pics, when projects move this fast you never remember them. :D

i can handle some criticisim no problem. And yea the herpie was missing some piller peices. I retract my statement saying it was "done". I just dont get why Kustombuilder has to get down on me when ever i say im going to do something. I dont talk shit about his work (well untill now). I said the herpie was my first chop hell first time ever working with metal. Ive done alot more work then and learned alot more since then. I feel confident i can do a much better chop this time around. Sure it may not be cole quality but how else is a young guy suppose to learn. And for the record i dont plan on cutting corners just cause i have a short time to do so im going to do it to the best of my ability possible. With each car i do i hope to get better at this. And i figure for a low invesment on this car i want to keep it fun and just build a killer car in 3 weeks and have fun with it.

  7. If you need a hand, I can drop by for a weekend...

I am waiting for my camaro to go to the body shop so I have room to bring the 49 into the garage.

the bondo, that must have been 3inches DEEP (thats a conservative estimate), in the rear center of the roof? that bondo?? no. that was the least of my concerns. a person needed only to see it in person once to know it was your first time anywhere near a welder or cutting tools. i'm refering to what i saw BEFORE the bondo was shoveled on.
remember, i offered to help you out but you were too impatient to wait a week before you started cutting that bitch up. after that i could already tell it was going to be a lost cause. as i recall i had just finished the chop on a similar car at the time and it turned out rather well. you just needed to wait a week and i could have got you going in the right direction.
i loved that car when you first got it. what a shame.

i'm PRETTY sure somebody got FUCKED!!!!

i'm not, infact i'm quite impressed with how well you stuck to the project. if i'd gotten myself into some of the spots i saw you get into with that car i most certainly would have thrown it away and started over. i am sincerely impressed with your stick-to-it-ativness and your ambition. i could certainly take a lesson from you in that regard.

    i offered ;) ...

    it's not.

you've proven that beyond a reasonable doubt.

i think your right and i just might take you up on that suggestion.

...i did'nt mean to insult you or deflate your ego. it's the cars i'm concerned about man. there just are'nt enough of them left to be "practicing" on the nice ones.

this is, ofcourse, all just MY opinion. nothing more. take it for what it's worth or don't take it at all. it's your right as it is mine to share it with you.

Wow did this slide into the good ol drama. First, unless you've seen the herpie up close, and actually had a conversation with DirtyT don't comment on it. Second to each his own, Kustombuilder signature comes to mind, funny. Third Bryan is learning, we all are, should he start with a honda next time? When people start pinstriping or welding should we all bash them for fucking up a perfectly good panel? I just don't see a 49-54 chevy as a must have rare car that got "fucked up" maybe somethings weren't done perfectly or even correctly to some people but that doesn't mean the effort wasn't there or that the car didn't turn out looking good in the end. I think he did a lot of good work and learned a ton. As far as the selling price well that's ebay for you, buyer beware, the guy didn't have to bid up to 11 grand. And Bryan left nothing out of the description to be misleading. Too bad a thread about getting a 500 car running for a car show has to go south.......

I'm about half way done with a project like that. I had a hole month. The thing that will screw you is waiting for parts. So make a list from top to bottom of all the parts you will need and order them now. I have not slept much in the two weeks since we got the car ant I only took 1 day off so far. It's though but it can be done. Good luck Scott

You've got my support. I can't wait to see it.

  17. I admire Bryan for his fearlessness when it comes to this stuff.

Sometimes people are stifled by fear of screwing up an old car, or not doing it perfect (guilty), I wish I just could go at stuff like he does.

They only need one perfect '49 Ford for the museum...

    Go Bryan, Go!!!

I know all about waiting for parts so i want to try to cover it all before the car even gets here. O shit i forgot i need like 4 gallons of bondo try to cut what i used on the herpie in half ya know.

No he doesn't have to, you already know.:D

In his head Bryan knows his self imposed deadline is rediculous. He doesn't need you, me or anyone else telling him that it's impossible to do even a halfway decent job in that short of a time frame.

Why he puts himself in a time crunch is beyond me BUT it's none of my business or yours even though in his title he came straight out and asked..."can it be done?" He really didn't/doesn't want to hear the truth, what he was really asking for was encouragment which lots of his friends gave him.

Can it be done?? Yep, a really shitty job of about half the list can be accomplished in three weeks. ONE decent job of ONE thing could possibly be done in three weeks. My hats off to him if he even gets it running and driving thru the front gate under it's own power between now and June 3rd.

Three weeks with nothing else to do. Keep a good schedule, work long hard hours every day. Sure can be done. Might not get paint or interior but will be a drivable cool ford (if ther is such a thing). lol

Impossible is only that if you let it be. This wont be no ridler car but it will not be a pile of shit. I would not be doing this and posting it if i didnt think i could do it. Ill do it and ill fucking do it right. There is no reason to even try to do this if its not done right. Im still learning and with each car i do there going to get better and better. If i dont keep getting better i may as well give up on this whole car building thing now.
