Can anyone confirm the year , model etc of my brakes as this real hotrod stuff is new to me... My last few cars have all had 80's Ford Cortina rear and early Ford Transit front brakes! These are the rears which i beleive to be 39-48 right? But these are on the front and I cant find reference pics of these backplates.. so can anyone school me on what I have here? Thanks
the front's are 1948 to 1952 F-1 , basically the same as `53-`56 F-100 the the lower adjusters , the rears are `39 to i believe `42 ? when the eliminate the lower adjuster. without them is up to `48
Do i see correctly that the square plate that the backing plate is bolted onto has been sliced of next to the kingpin and then re-welded at a more vertical angle. Never noticed something like that before on a dropped I beam axle. Anyway it sure looks like a solid bit of welding.
Cant help you there i'm afraid! - Im just trying to get the dam thing to run! The only ID on the front end that I can see id Pete&Jakes stamped on the shackles - presume its all a PnJ set up but not certain. Are their beams usually different?
Wouldn't they be the late ones because of the hub on the outside of the drum instead of the inside. I think it would be 45-48?
You got it. Just got back from work and rolled it our into the sunshine for some more knuckle-scraping and had a look at the front end but it is just casting numbers - 29A 67F it says.
