Don't know much about it besides it only has minimal surface rust and it's about 95% complete. Can someone help me ballpark a price? Thanks a bunch!
That's not worth a plug nickel. Better tell me where its at, so, I can go and dispose of it properly.
Fisher body like Chivvy, lots of wood to renew or upgrade or replace with steel. If I was wanting/needing it I'd go as high as 3k. Love them wood wheels!
That's a nice early '28 Dodge Victory 6 coupe (the long hood/short cowl is early '28)- getting pretty hard to come by. All steel body by Budd, so there's no wood to mess with. I've seen them go for anywhere between 2K and 7K, depending on condition and if the owner knows what he/she has... Let's just say that I wish I had the cash right now.
Yet again, ANY vehicle is worth what the seller and buyer agree to on a price. You have an idea what you might pay for it.
......... I'd take the 'minimal surface rust' with a grain of salt............ The wood sills, framework in doors, etc are going to be rotted........ Whatever.......... will make a great project, style is just ****in' beautiful. We know why they called 'em running 'boards'....... My '29 Nash had them too.
Ok, why are they called running boards? Jeepers, I thought everyone knew. 1: Many times they were made of timber: ergo boards. 2: When Bonnie and Clyde came running from the bank, they had a place to land while the car was taking off.
I thought Dodge only used wood in the floor/toe board? My '32 F10 has no wood anywhere, except where I mentioned.
I could be wrong. I guess only way to tell is rip out some upholstery and see. Open the trunk lid and see what's there. The 'boards' look like lumber to me. Seems I have seen early Dodge Brothers apart, had wood. Wouldn't change the value that much.
I'd say about $4,500. Looking at the body... Those Budd bodies have some great steel inner construction that doesn't need wood work. I'd chop it but do so at the lower of the two raised body side moldings by bringing down the sill moldings down to where the second lower raised body lines are and eliminating that center section. A little too busy as is, but with the top chopped like that it would be sweet. I'd photochop it to show you but I don't have that program. I love the cowl, hood and fender lines. Those jack stands it's on look as old as the car itself!
29nash, The Victory 6 was an early design in using all steel bodies. the reason they are fairly hard to find is that Dodge used a thinner gauge metal on the frame. The body slips down over the frame to strengthen it (kind of like an early unibody). Unfortunately, the frame was so light that even sinple accidents would total a car. There will typically be some rot at the bottom edge of the doors and body- the drainage wasn't deisigned well.
Fisher body like Chivvy, lots of wood to renew or upgrade or replace with steel. If I was wanting/needing it I'd go as high as 3k. Love them wood wheels! ???? Dodges are all steel. The wheels only were wood so the chevys couldnt here them going by.
Not all Dodges are steel- Dodge had bodies made by Fisher as well (there are a few '25 coupes on the HAMB that are Fisher bodied). The '28-'29 Victory 6 was the first all steel body for Dodge and only lasted a year and a half. Also, you could get wood spokes, wires, or disk wheels per your choice. Personally, I like the wires- they have big hubs, but they really lok good on the Victory!
Thanks Mac the Yankee. I wasn't aware that all Dodge Bros weren't Fisher built. I did know that those built by Fisher were like the Chivvies.
My '28 Dodge "Fast Four" coupe had an all-steel body. Thick, solid sheet metal construction. Wish that I still had it.
Well since it isn't worth your time , I will do you a big favor and take that junk away for you and won't charge you anything ! Really , I love Mopars and I was looking at a 27 that some old man had for sale and ran good too . By the looks of it , if I owned it , I would leave it stock and not chop it up . I would get it running and enjoy it . Another thing to think about , trying to get parts is not that easy . There are a few places making sheet metal but is pricey ! Engine parts are not hard to find . I would love to have it ! Just a thought ! RetroJim
