Saved indeed! That'll be one nasty ride once ya put a straight axle back under it and get a proper wheel tire combo. Mebe some kidney bean Halibrands n' skinnys up front and some pie crust slicks out back. For motivation I'm thinkin' 354/392 style HEMI with an as cast 6-71 and four port Hilborn on top.
That trucks gonna be bad ***.

If he wont let you have the truck maybe you can get him to part with those "*****in" rims instead??

Straight axle, nose high..a subtle color and a 409/4spd...oh and some different rims/tires for sure:eek:..

Bingo Tman! I have been playing with you all, this is a customers project I just picked up & I have no control off how it will be presented. He want's to just get it running as is. It's always interesting to see how the "board" feels. If it was mine it would be an old g***er! Deselc, yep, steel cab, custom bed, gl*** rear fenders & front nose. Not in the pic's is the original steel nose, hood & bed.....................

I agree with Tman leave it as is but finish it, and drive the hell out of it. I don't understand why everyone has to make a g***er out of a Willys?

Word - Why does every damn Willy's HAVE to be a g***er? Is it some law that was on the missing page of my Hot Rodder's Bible or something?

Sure, the wheels gotta go and you need to throw some headlights in that ****er, but you're so close to having a UNIQUE Willy's truck on the road I can can almost taste it ... can't you? Dare to be different.

Let the stoning start now, I can hear the mob of g***er zealots gathering in my driveway.

I would like it in either configuration but the current looks like my 41 chev. I thought of that same wheel tire combo for mine to mix a little old with the new.

Has anyone ever restored a Willys or put a 4 cyl back in one? I've walked past rows of them in shows that all had Hemi's in them. I'm surprised no one here *****es about not putting a flathead V8 in one. Seems like a good candidate for a banger and a T5 to me, or how about a Quad 4 done up Offy style and a T6 with a quick change rear end. Sounds like 30 mpg fun to me.

  20. I also dig the early front clip. Everyone goes out and does the 40 or 41 nose. I LIKE THE 38!!!!!!!!!

  21. The 38 fronts are *****in!! I love g***ers so, well.........
Who said that a gl*** front on a Willys isnt trad?? Reeks of BS to me.

Does or did that project belong to a bricklayer? My dad is a bricklayer and one of the contractors he knows has a Willys that looks alot like that one. It was up at the Arlington drag strip reunion a couple of years ago.

Richard Head, yes it's owned by a bricklayer, Jim Olsen, BUT don't think it was at Arlington Drags, been sidelined for a few years now................... He is restoring a vintage 280 hydro for me in exchange hr. 4 hr. on his Willys.........
