I have this car which appears to be an authentic g***er from the 60's. I've had it a couple of years, and it came from the San Antonio area. Anyone know what it is? Any history on it would be great. I think it's a Hillman, but other folks have said Simca. Anyway, stories about it would be cool. Don't know if I want to take on another project............ Here is a link to the photos.

Yup...a Hillman. I was in one when it rolled one afternoon...nobody got hurt except my girlfriend who was barefooted at the time...got a gl***-cut on her foot.

Hillman...but not being from TX, I'm unable to ***ist you in identifying any racing history for the vehicle. Appears to be in fine shape, I would hope your plans would be to refresh the build 'as is' (g***er), while making it street-legal so it can be enjoyed in any venue.

    short 'humorous' story.

Kid down the street from me (years ago) with the moniker "Fast Larry" built one of these rigs - BB 427, tunnel ram, Muncie, 12-bolt, etc, etc. At the time I had two small sons and a detached garage behind my house for my own projects (57 150 2dr sedan at the time). Anyway....Fast Larry got that monstrous engine lit off...and immediately drove down to my house, into my driveway with the open exhaust howling, and as I looked up from the workbench, he realized that while the engine was in topnotch condition, he had failed to complete any brakework. He was quick enough to shut it down in gear and it shuddered to a stop in the middle of my young boys' sandbox adjacent to the garage. Fortunately for all of us, they were no playing there at the time. He was a bit chagrined, and paid me for the broken sandbox and we towed it back to his house. He fixed his fender/grille and had it on the road a week later - very hairy ride....

51 Bird is spot on, it's a Series 1 Hillman Husky, they were made from '54 to '57 here in the UK. My dad had one and it's the first car I remember ever riding in. I hope you get to rebuild it someday, no-one's ever built a G***er version over here.
