I am restoring a 1956 Oldsmobile Super 88 whose engine is frozen. There is an Oldsmobile 324 engine from a 1955 Olds in working condition for sale locally. It does not have its transmission. I know there are differences in the 324's from 54 to 56. The seller of this engine isn't sure I can use the Jetaway transmission. Does anyone know for sure if I can use this transmission with a 55 Olds 324 engine? I have the complete motor for 56 and transmission. This would be cheaper to get this engine than to try to rebuild the which may not be rebuildable. Would the bellhousing fit the 55 motor and so on?

Yes, the bolt pattern on both the crankshaft flange and rear of engine block is the same from '55-'56.
