Ignoring the Manufacturer's Recommendations, it may be single use or they may just want to sell me more, can you re-use CLR if it is still effective? Is there harm in leaving the metal in the bath for 15-20 minutes/ Anyone actually used it to remove rust spots on chrome? Thanks.

    Hello,
We have used CLR products for many years. It is the best product to use on stainless steel fittings, and parts to get rust and corrosion off of the surface. We leave it on for a minute or two then just wipe off and then water clean it off. It does not have to stay on very long, but so far, the stainless steel showed no signs of damage. The rust? gone. There are grades of stainless steel. We always thought it was never going to show any rust. But, for the majority of the consumer grade of stainless, it does get some rust.

In the house, for years, we have water coming out of each faucet. The stuff in the local water supply leaves a residue that makes anyone not want to drink from the tap. But, for all of the odd color corrosion that builds up on the filter screen and nickel/chrome parts, it comes right off using CLR solution straight from the silver bottle.

If you are unsure of your own products, then to get surface rust off of chrome/stainless, use NEVR-DULL product.
upload_2023-6-14_9-36-7.png It is magic as to how it works and leaves anything as clear of rust as it can be. You don't need a lot of the wadding polish. A small bit goes a long way to clean surfaces. If you feel you need a paste wax for more protection, put in over the dry surface to satisfy your wants.

We have used both products on household satin finish metal, br***, stainless steel products and on all metal surfaces on our different sailboats over the years. It is a product that still sits in the drawer, waiting for the next chance to go to work.

In the mean time, the crusty stuff on faucet outlets get the CLR treatment when it is necessary. By the way, we do not drink tap water, anyway. It comes through much better filter that never shows the crusty stuff and the taste is outstanding. The crusty stuff probably is inside of the sealed filter, so it is sight unseen to us. And, the water taste is noted for its clarity and taste. YRMV

I use it over and over at work. It gets dirty. I filter it with a shirt and use it to clean plumbing fixtures, refilling the container I use as necessary.

As far as reusing CLR as long as it works keep using it , I don’t see any issues except it not cleaning as well as it once did .

Now that is somthing that I never considered. I always thought and used it for wipe on, let sit, and wipe off on sheet metal.

Be advised, don’t do any soaking of parts in a closed environment as fumes will rust/corrode stuff within the bubble the invisible cloud will grow to be.

CLR is garbage. That has been my experience.
I had mild spotty surface rust on some sheet metal after applying CLR the whole surface was rusty.
Trying to wipe it off spread rust everywhere and on top of that it leaves a s***my soap like deposit on whatever you apply it to.

It will leave surface oxidation. I use it to descale large amounts of rust off of parts with success.
