The Weiand heads like yours were made with several types of marking, variants in the Ford Cnada C7RA PN and such. They can be distinguished at 20 feet from real Canadians by the 2 blank sender/heater holes (originals had all 4 tapped). They were made as full-on visual repros of the Ford heads, with the easily reground Weiand logo hidden on the top edge, but were much cruder castings than real Canadians...on yours, look at the heavy and often eccentric cast water necks. Real ones were thinner and much better controlled there. The other tells include slightly greater thickness overall, totally different combustion chambers, and somewhat cruder casting of the logos. They were not ground off finned heads, though they were cast with same combustion chambers as finned Weiands. Both the real Ford (imported in quan***y in the '60's when obsoleted by Ford Canada) and the Weiands (discontinued by Weiand as stock car racing shifted to OHV) were sold off through Honest Charley...I have at least one '60's catalog displaying both. What was supposedly the last quan***y of Weiands ended up in NY or Connecticut in the early 1970's because the Danbury track was the last bastion of flathead stock car racing. About the same time, Joblot in NY acquired and sold a quan***y of the real Canadian ones. From memory (need to go look in my parts dump!) I think that where yours say "Canada", the originals and some Weiands said "Ford of Canada"...I would ***ume that someone in California got a nasty letter from a Ford lawyer and had to modify the molds!
Funny how you would notice the plug hole difference from a picture but ya can't tell if a plug hole (or multiple plug holes are stripped out) by holding and looking at a set when in your hands Remember I asked how the plug holes looked prior to buying them? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=490208 Thanks again for your expert ****ysis of the condition
