Darte, thanks for sharing the bacon...is that a crack in the quarter panel...that alone would pinpoint our lovely rustbelt accommodations for our vintage cars...it ain't pretty... So were they visiting down your way...enjoying some of the warmth that seems to be basking the southern US...if they came from the east coast that was some journey that's for sure...maybe while they're there they should grab a quarter panel off one of the dry bodies in one of the wreckers there... Can't say how much I enjoy the images shared of vintage tin your way...
...although it's full fledged fall right now the day I took this which was last Wednesday it was 80°F in the shade... I made several photo stops to capture the beauty of the moment and try and forget about the reality that is today...it was fun hanging the arm out the window...
Well I finally feel that I can post a pic or two, as I got the final safety taken care of last week, and now its registered and insured so I can drive it now that winter is coming. Still working some bugs out but it's fun to drive. Finally. Still needs another coat of clear and a set of drop shackles to bring the back down a bit, and the seats are in upholstery jail, but soon to be paroled.
Yes so the car is the Canadian Bacon and the passengers aren’t so get it straight. The car isn’t full of Canadian Bacon unless they made a run to the grocery store and filled the trunk.
However that will mean some fab and paint work, I was thinking dark green but my wife wants dark purple. More decisions.
Thought a little twist on the Canadian bacon thread might be fun. We have a cool Kamloops historical facebook page that i check out regularly and folks post lots of neat old pics with lots of our downtown main street back in the day. Victoria Street is the name of the road. Here's a few pics of a few different hamb friendly eras that I think are cool. How about some historical pics of your home towns with some old cars in em!
So today out of the blue, I got an email from Bill Sherk to ask me about the new to me 28 rpu a bunch of the locals have been working on. I am not sure it is worthy, but it sounds like he wants to give it some coverage. He did mention some health problems, but is still writing episodes to entertain us all, will keep you posted.
Thank you...I have apologized, I got caught in mentions of estate, made an incorrect assumption...note to self, estate management can be a living downsizing... So yeah, please see what he's still got in the garage...heck get him on to the Hamb if you can suggest...
Lest We Forget http://ontariowarmemorials.blogspot.com/2019/03/smiths-falls-harvard.html?m=1 ...One more for those that gave Their Lives for Our Freedom... ...A solemn but proud day... Bit of a re-run but the message remains the same in this powder-keg we call Earth...
...This reminds me of someone here at the Hamb... https://www.tbirddeuce.com/movie.html ...I know this pic above but never knew the rest of the Story...It was even used in a Military Recruiting Effort here in Canada...To cool...and it's still around... I believe the video was part of that recruiting effort......Play it with the sound up eh!! ...the paragraph below quoted from the article... "This car was built as a hot rod in 1955 and is now, in 2023, a 68 year old build and almost a 100 year old car. During that time there has been 25 owners, ALL of which we have been able to identify. Each one enjoyed the car and put their personal touch to the car, but each respected what the others had done and the car remains today very close to the way Michael O'Byrne built it so many years ago." ...We are still Remembering and I also like to as they do in the States Thank our Veterans for their Service...I'm not sure any veterans have owned the Hotrod but at a minimum it was used in a Recruiting video so I'll chalk it up as something that we can relate to thanking our Vets... https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/search-for-the-t-bird-deuce.530727/ ...not sure who Hamber @Ragtop is on the List but it may be the second last owner...hmmm, maybe he was just chasing it down but he knew a ton about it...hope he's well...
Great Post Stogy..... John W. lives just up the road and he and the T-Bird Deuce always were dropping by or I would run up to his shop..... John has had that roadster for quite some time but just sold it.John was just thinning the Herd.I believe he was the third owner and then the 21st owner.(can't remember that, the info is listed on his T Bird website.) The member you mentioned.... Ragtop..... that was Mike.. he passed a few years back. a great Hot rodder from the Windsor area.
Thanks Jeff, I do a lot of snooping and sometimes I find stuff that really opens the eyes...I then started searches here and in very typical fashion in many ways old news...quite a well documented Hotrod...and the passion that's connected...wow... That little snippet in film was priceless. One thing I was trying to find is the Recruiting film that was used in...I'd love to find that...I did get onto the NFB to try and locate it and may have, while a shiload of stuff there is free some is there but requires a request to view...the footage on the film may be much better...anyhow yeah, them Deuces are a Holy Grail to so many...you've even be up close and personal with it...neato!!!
Well November 12th arrived in Alberta and turned out to be a brisk 8 C day with the sunshine and nothing much in the way of wind. I decided that since there was no snow and or ice on the roads or anywhere else yet that I should get the RPU out for a little bit. A chilly fall open top hot rod ride was a lot of fun, listening to the Y Block through the porter mufflers and looking out over the three carbs watching the open wheels never gets old. The RPU performed flawlessly as usual and got the usual degree of attention although I wonder if some people thought look at that nut freezing himself I was too busy having fun to care and to be honest I wasn’t that cold at the end of a couple of hours of patrolling the streets.
Or vice versa! Nothing like this time of year, that time where there are still some leaves on the trees and just before the s#/t hits the fan. Larry, the car looks happy out in the fresh air.
"Cayuga Drag Strip 1959 - Michael O'Byrne" ...Quoted from the T-Bird Website I shared in the post...I guess Mike was the Photographer...You are correct @eaglebeak...You should visit that site I shared, this Deuce has been around...and it has quite a pic archive along with that ride it's had...Nice Hotrod it was back in the day...It's nice now but I liked its older livery...but the fact it's survived is amicable...
Went to the ‘Spring Thaw’ show at Heritage Park in Calgary this past weekend and had a nice visit with some car buddies, but didn’t really see any new HAMB-worthy slices of bacon. Must be some new builds finished over the winter so let’s see em. Time for some new stuff on this thread, eh?
