I've been a little out of the loop......I dug the Hotrod out of this mess and have been on a couple hour long runs already. It's good to be out...and it's pretty cool still...maybe low to mid 60s...very refreshing...;)

  4. So I promised an update on Bill Sherk, here is the article from this week’s local paper. E7D120F0-E650-4FD4-8A94-1E7218710602.jpeg

Betcha those 42's are pretty rare these days eh? They are an interesting mix of what was coming in 46 to 1950 with many features such as the grille and body lines...

Thanks for sharing this @daylatedollarshort. I haven’t contacted him yet to share my ride but I should as you said, he'd likely find it an interesting Hotrod...

First time rolling in 54 years. Had it out to Airdrie Air Park for some arm drop drags. Going to take it to Edmonton for a few more test runs this weekend.

Out here on the prairie flatlands we are still very active in the old car hobby, just not for the winter months. Pics of my old Chevy truck should explain why.....

Getting to be time to put the hams away for winter, but thought I’d share one more look at the ass of my sedan. Pinstriper had a little more fun with it. Gotta zoom in for the chuckle.

    IMG_7300.jpeg

Couple more surprises for folks who look close enough, but gotta save those for WOW this winter.
Now gotta get the damn roadster project finished!

“I was the last one left after the nuclear holocaust, eh. The whole world had been destroyed, like U.S. blew up Russia and Russia blew up U.S. and Canada. Fortunately, I had been off world at the time.

There wasn’t much to do. All the bowling alleys and doughnut shops had been wrecked. So’s, I spent most of my time looking for beer.”

@daylatedollarshort, I finally did a pretty thorough writeup on the Ole Hotrod and sent it to Bill Sherk the Car Detective. Now despite there being no real mystery to solve he will be publishing a little story in the near future. I'm humbled and excited to finally say hello to him.

Some of you other Hambers should reach out to him. I don't think he is specifically Canadian with his coverage. I will ask.

I have a couple more things to share with him but I will let him get mine out there first. As @Jeff Norwell said a very nice man and as you said very much alive...I'll never forget my faux pas...

I also want to ask him about visiting the Hamb. I think he'd enjoy it.

Blue truck was a 52, and the one in the shop is my current project, a 1948 Chevy maple leaf with the corner windows grafted in, and a long box on the back off a 54??

Do you drive it all winter?

I moved my 46 GMC and 62 Bel Air around yesterday. We had a bit of wet snow on Friday. There was enough ice that it was difficult to go anywhere in the yard with an open diff RWD.

Just picked up the truck this past summer, so haven’t yet. But that’s the plan depending on sandbags and temp (heater sucks). It’s an old farm truck with stump pulling gears so I stay off the highways/freeways and just putt around town anyway. Reminds me of my old ford truck that I drove around Inuvik in my high school days back in the seventies. And bonus, this bad boy has 4 wheel brakes (I could only get 1 wheel brake working on my high school ride…:p).

  24. Thank goodness we don't have snow yet in the forgotten corner of Alberta. Did a little cruising with my friends recently... IMG_5790.JPG IMG_5772.JPG

My buddy found it in very sad shape dumped in a ravine probably 25 years ago. He is a true muscle car guy, but LOVES the early iron. He has spent countless hours welding on it (his day job) and countless dollars having true metalmen work over the car, finishing off the entire body in smooth metalwork. One fellow from Washington hand formed a new trunklid for him. He even kept the stock engine, and tweaked it a little, haha!

So it's a real steel Willys? Nice, I like that!

  28. Yessir, the real deal. He had sprayed some epoxy on the front clip and rear fenders before he had it on the road and wished he hadn't, so the whole car would look bare. Then again, he does want to paint it all nice and shiny eventually. Now people ask if he's running fiberglass front and fenders, haha!
