We are looking at buying a running driving car in Victoria BC and want to get it back to Ottawa On. Any recommendations for a transport company. We are considering driving it home but might be money ahead by shipping it.

  2. We use every point at work , they ship forklifts and heavy equipment all across Canada for us . Very reasonable , but your car needs to be at one of there warehouses to load in a truck , then unloaded at the drop off at one of their warehouses .

Had a car delivered from PEI to me before Covid and it was right around $1000 bucks , had to wait 3 weeks untill they had a load coming to the closest warehouse to me . But the price was right .

Not sure what there rates are now , but worth a call .

  3. Put your money in the vehicle
    and drive it.

You are not going to save money
    paying someone else to transport
it if you want it to arrive in the
    condition it is now.

Phil, I had a 61 Laurentian 2dr hardtop hauled from Port Moody BC to Toronto ( Complete, rolling and steering but locked up engine and no brakes of any kind) and I used Mackie Auto Transport (Oshawa based). Very professional service and top notch equipment, enclosed 7 car rig. Door to door, no issues and good communication. I would use them again in a heartbeat, and they were the most expensive quote that I received at the time, but the only one where they said " Just give us the address and the contact info for each end and we will handle it".

The quoted price was about $700 above what I would have spent just on fuel to go get the thing with a pickup truck and trailer, roughly a 5900 mile round trip, about 90 hours behind the wheel, and that's if nothing goes wrong. Add on 6-8 nights lodging and 20-odd road meals, never mind the 8 days out of my life? I was dollars way ahead. I made a phone call to move the car and used the time to earn.

  5. I can second makie auto transport used them all the time when I worked at Jaguar freighting cars around the country .

not the cheapest game in town , but they are the best at what they do and as @deuceman32 saud they take care of everything once you make the phone call .

Can’t imagine driving to BC or back. My daughter drove to Edmonton from Ottawa two years ago to attend a 6 week course, and it took her 5 days. She also got two huge stone chips in my windshield.

That's the problem with driving it home we figure at least 6 days on the road(song cue:p), we are not cannonball material. Gas hotels food ext.
