When was the last time you looked at your SS card,IIRC there is notice printed on the SS card saying to not use this number for I.D. Tell them the U.S. Gov. says you can't do that. ................Jack
it is a valid request, caused by the fact you are not a known regular shipper with that broker. i would provide it to ups, much more trustworthy organization. it happens to us also if for some reason we can not use the fed-ex or ups broker service homeland security wants to make sure your not a terrorist, also the box will not move until they get it, after awhile the goods are forfieted if you plan to ship to canada or out of the usa using one shipping service or broker is best you can provide your info get a shippers id number and everything is kool the ems guy
I would trust UPS with my sin#,,gawd when I consider all the shady employers I have given my sin# to....
I would think that if someone was to import materials for nefarious (yes, I said "nefarious!) purposes the authorities would be able to ID them from the SSN and then go knock on their door. I wonder if this requirement is for other countries as well? When 9/11 happened Canada was accused of letting those terrorists slip out of Canada and into the US. Of course this was proven to be absolutely false and just an ill advised knee jerk reaction.
What kind of axle is even worth all this crap? Is it Canadian forged or something? And I have shipped LOTS of stuff to Canada and I've NEVER heard of that request. Call SoCal and get one or a US Lucky 7 dealer. Hell, the shipping cost would make me look state side.
SSn number is the same as our Social insurance Numbers is it Not.. ? Thats your life line.. I wouldnt give mine to anyone other than for tax reasons to the Gov and to get paid from my job.. Ive never heard of that before either for shipping purposes.. .. UPS requires a Phone Number... I do know that much...
