Thanks, that car is a daily driver man, painted it in '02. Stock Chrysler white with silver 'flake scallops and ice white pearl panels, striped by Treth in ivory and grey. It's owned by a chick up in Seattle and she drives it everywhere, !@#$ YEAH.

  6. This post made me think of my Dads T he built in the 60's, not as wild as some of these but still pretty crazy! I'll have to ask him the specific year, but they are mid 60's sometime early in the year, second shot is from the Detroit Autorama same year. Enjoy...

here is some of my work from a few yrs back.
the roof was to be ghosted..it worked too well..its overlooked alot..
because of the angle...and its hard to get a good picture..
but when the light is right it still pops..
i am gonna panel the sides when i get some room in the garage cleaned out enough to do both sides..
i am still contemplating color combos to go with the green.
    cheapst.

Here's one I did back in '69. It won "Best Use of Color" at Detroit Autorama Jan 1970.

All of these paint jobs are simply amazing. How do you create these sort of patterns and such? I'm interested to find out.

Do you know where this car is now? I always wondered what happened to all of the really wild show cars they used to build.

Unfortunately, it was subseqently cut up into a different car for show points purposes and was ruined. In fact, it may have been Jack Walker who did the deed (mid-70's) when I think he may have owned it and later wanted to atone for his error. Doug Thompson, the original builder, told me that Jack had talked to him about restoring it to the state of my photo but Doug told him it would be easier to start from scratch.

Daryl Starbird did the same thing to Lil Coffin when owned it in the 70's...cut it up into a different car...but I recently heard that he is either working on, or at least considering a restoration of it.

By the way, I don't have any good photos of the Vette. If anyone might have some, I'd love to hear from you.

Your 'Vette was in 1001 Custom and Rod Ideas circa 71-72. One of the first issues for that mag. Not as a feature but at a show. I have the mag somewhere in my collection. It was a quarterly mag put out by Popular Hot Rodding.

I always liked this '56 done by Jim Green Wild Child's Custom. Loved the flake and colors
