IMG_4676.png Any reason I can't use the old style (Fram) canister fuel filter downstream/after my mechanical fuel pump? I have no electric pump and it would serve as my only fuel filter. I'm trying to eliminate a couple rubber hoses, and I like the sevriceability. Thx.

  2. I think it would work just fine. Medium Duty Chevrolets and GMC trucks used a set up with a canister filter very similar to yours. The only difference in their design, the filter was on the suction side. I’m just curious, why are you putting on the pressure side?

Since I only have the mechanical pump, I figure it would struggle with the filter on the suction side. I know they're usually used downstream of electric pumps.

  4. That housing is a bit over kill for a mechanical pump, but you can run a Wix 33900R filter in it which is 5-6 microns worth of filtration. That's what I run inside mine.

I’ve used them for year’s between the pump and carbs. All the high performance engines had 3/8” hard line. I did doctor the fittings a little and they did not leak. 5/16” line is very adequate for street use as my dual quad system has 5/16”.

I have a couple of the smaller Holley filters that take the old Ford fuel pump elements. Those are great for tight spaces.
