This is called alternate positions. If you go by the a mil number (I made it up, don't look for it) such as D38999/26MF21PN, the N at the means position "normal". There are hermetic connectors, but very expen$ive. I would try a local electrical house for what you want. Most military connectors limit you to the same gage wire, or within a range like 16-20 awg wire as one examble. The mixed gage connectors usually have less total number of contacts in them. Again, try a good electrical supply house. They do carry commercial connectors used for machine repair applications. Other places to look are Digikey, Newark, Tyco, but you have to have an account to buy from them. Bob
I work extensively with military connectors and have to come up with the tooling, assembly procedures, etc. If gets very involved and theer is no way around the M22520 family of tooling, there are no cheapo equivalents. Per the mil specs, all unused positions have to be filled in crimp connectors to keep dirt out and ensure proper mating. Unused positions get a crimp contact inserted into them, then a "dog bone" seal plug seals the grommet in place of the wire. Solder cup connectors get the wires soldered in place and a piece of shrink sleeving goes over the connection. Bob
This is what I need is a cannon plug for my bulk head connector is there anyone that can help Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Did you check any of the links that were posted in this thread? You can get them from a number of sources.
Thread is closing in on four years old, so a PM to the original poster might have been better than hoping he sees this; and if the links above don't work, perhaps a google search for "bulkhead connector" or "cannon plug" might work. Or just find say a pre-computer GM car and pull the harness and fuse block out of it. A 73-81 or so pickup would be an easy one to remove. You'll have to add a resistor if you're not running an HEI ignition.
Just in case somebody is looking for a neat connector, check these out...used them on my roadster..22 pin , weatherpack & waterproof....This shop stocks them...http://www.precisionautomotivespeci...nnectors-Relays-Solenoids-Terminals-Wire.html
Law, almost all military generators, large radios, etc used Cannon plugs. If you can find a salvage yard with military stuff you should be able to gather up quite a few. I pulled a bunch out of a large military helicopter in Las Vegas that was going to be blown up in a movie shoot.
