Did prep and prime work all day. Got the transmission painted, had to use etching primer on the aluminum case and finished it with the cast paint. I hung as many parts from the ceiling as I could and still walk around them. Got a good coat of epoxy primer on, then I hit them with several coats of high build urethane primer. I see many more hours of sanding in my future.

Your alot like me inasmuch that I wholeheartedly dislike cast flash....

I've spent alot of time (like you) grinding stuff down to get it smooth....the biggest difference, on your project you'll be able to see the detail work when your done...

Mine will all be hidden under the fenders....oh well...

Looks awesome H.T. I remember when I did the ceiling hanging trick...I never really realized how many parts were in a chassis till I hadda paint em all!

My friends think I'm crazy to spend all the extra time cleaning up every little detail. I'm going the leave the rust pits in the rear spring leaves, kinda gives it some caricature. Even if it had fenders I would have to clean up the castings, just couldn't sleep at night. I know, I have issues.

All that grinding/sanding will pay off!! I'm the same way. It sucks ass at the time (D.A. pads don't last long either) but when you're finished and it's all shiney people can't nit pick it to death. Cool car!

Tell me about it! I have gone through hundreds of them! I killed two gallons of primer and many other supplies. I sure do understand why good paint jobs cost big bucks!!

Single stage on all the parts. It's so much easier that way.

Hot Turkey, the '32 Three Window has for the longest time been my ultimate hot rod. That said, as a rule, I don't believe in glass cars. However, your awesome coupe almost makes me want to change my mind. I really like all the attention to detail, that you have put into the making of your coupe.

I too cannot afford that '32 Three Window that I have so badly coveted. So instead, I decided that I could maintain my anti-glass edict while having a cool hot rod, simply by compromising and opting for a Model-A coupe instead. Although, now those too are being reproduced in glass.

For what its worth, keep up the good work. Your car already looks like its going to be killer.
    Cheers,
    Michelle

Thanks, if I could go back in time 4 years ago when I got this hair brained idea, I would go with the Model A. I have gone so far over budget on the build that I could have built a bad ass A. Sure, I could have done this car much cheaper by cutting corners and using a Ch*#y motor but that's just not my nature. Don't tell my wife but I'm stashing parts for the next one.

Hey Hot Turkey, I know this is a stupid question and I should definatly know this, but I don't, and I admit it. Where did you get those valve covers and what are they? I built a nasty high strung 306 out of a 289 for my 30 A' coupe and did a little searching for some finned al valve covers and didn't come up with anything, so I settled for a set of old cast M/T's. Also, how much rocker clearance do they offer? for instance, do you know if they would clear a 1.6 roller? Thanks, I appreciate it.

The whole day was spent wet sanding wish bones, steering column, rear bones and axle. If it stops raining, they will get paint tomorrow.

You are coming along great with this build. I'm really enjoying it. I just can't wait for my Frame & parts to get over here from the States so I can get going as well. You have inspired me.
