Thanks, I'm very lucky to have a good friend with 30 years of experience. I can paint well but he can fix any screw up I do. You guys only see the good stuff. That last shot of the backing plate looks good but the black started to peal back from the edges. Turns out my prep work was not good enough and now both plates were sanded back down today. I'm learning new stuff everyday and don't make the same mistake twice. There are so many parts to this build you don't see, I try to remember to take pictures but ya know....
I really appreciate the kind words from you guys and find myself everyday thinking about the Hamb. To be honest, this place has had everything to do with the outcome of this build. The influence from the builds I have seen here and the passion of members truly makes me think about my choices. Oh ya, my buddy Del Clack would raz my ass if I put the wrong junk on this car. But seriously, your encouraging words are the fuel that makes me get out there every single day and bust my ass. The Hamb rules and I'm proud to be apart of it.....

Even your masking tape looks like artwork.

The two-tone paint scheme on the running gear looks fantastic. You actually made backing plates look good! Amazing.

How do you attach the steel firewall to the body? You've got me puzzled on that.

amazing and your build encourages me on those days that I decide to sell the A and put my cash in the bank, when I think I am just in over my head, standing in the garage staring a bunch of metal in a pile.

love the 2 tone and man I wish for warm days so I can see the paint laid down on this ride.

Seems like I've been reading this forever. Can't imagine actually doing the work that's been posted. This build should be used as an example of "stick to it" regardless of the challenges. I was hoping for paint before I got to the last post but it looks like I'll have to revisit this one. Awesome build.

Thanks guys, I spent the day fighting the cold and working on the grill insert. I sanded each blade in the insert to knock the shine off and etch primed it. I just put one coat of the vanilla on it and am waiting for it to tack now. This cold sucks.

Not 100% on the interior color yet. Maybe baseball glove leather or vanilla.

  26. Do you think there is anyway I could trouble you for a little step by step tech on this? I know you put a ton of hours into the car, but if you could take a little time out, I would greatly appreciate it. I wanna do some finish work like that so I can have suspension parts chromed. Any prep work I can do will save me a ton! Love the car man!

Around 30 hours on it from start to finish, The hardest part was the sanding by hand with a small piece of paper. Hurts my fingers thinking about it. I had a friend help with it also. I bought it with the holes in it and had to smooth out every drilled hole. Next time I will just buy a chromed one.

  30. I think vanilla would look great for the interior.
