Time to start hitting all the parts with 2000 wet sand, buff and glaze polish. I will finish final blocking of the doors next week so I can paint them. Once again I need more color and clear to finish. It's only money right?

Yep, and you actually absorb more through your skin than you may think. Bad stuff... I'm guilty of it as well on occasion, but it seems to be much less with HVLP.

A reminder to all. If you mow enough lawns, you can build a Hot Rod!

I just spent and hour this morning from page one until now. Beautiful work! You deserve what you are building!

Great build and patience, you are the man.
Did a bunch of interiors back in the early seventies for buddies, sprayed with everything available back then, even one shot mini spray rattle can.
You really want to use the best masks available. Wish i had used better masks back then from lungs to nerves I feel the results. That little girl will thank you for it.These new paints are real killers

  15. Hey there Hot Turkey,
I just had to add my 2c. Followed this thread for several months now. What a great lookin car you have! I faced the same problem on a '32 roadster project. If you won't pay the high $$$ for the steel bodies - new or old - ya got one alternative! I grabbed a glass body and went to work. The only thing I didn't like was the ugly flat recessed firewall. We used a flathead so didn't need the recess. I used one of the glass firewalls from Speedway - it has most of the appearance features of an original and much cheaper than a metal repop. We ordered a metal firewall band and firewall feet from Brookville. Grafted the Speedway firewall and metal firewall band to the body. Lotsa trimming, and fitting and more trimming before it was done - but it came out sooooo nice! I'm happy as a clam and would do it again...

Today I finished wet sanding and buffing the bones and the backing plates. It's fun ass hell putting all the parts back on for the last time.

Better hurry up and get that car to GNRS. It's almost too slick not to be there.

Can you show a closer pic of your brake lines? Are they painted with stainless clamps or just black line?

Looks great man. Those colors go PERFECT!

    Hot Turkey,
Your build is amazing!! You've done some outstanding work. I have to tell you, I'm addicted to your thread - it is the first thing I check every night !!! Can't wait to see pics of the coupe completed; wish I was close enough to see it "live"!!! Congrats!

The brake lines are those green ones from Auto Zone, I rattle canned them with flat black. I bought stainless steel lines but chickened out on tryin to double flar em. I will get some shots of them for ya. I had to work my real job today, that sucked. All I thought about was getting home. I tried to get the backing plates on but now they don't fit, too much paint on the edges. Had the same problem with the spindles, axel and bones. Again, it's taking longer than I thought, got to go slow with all this new paint. I'll be in the shop all day tomorrow. (smile)

  30. Great job!! I want one! I have a mold and will start on one when it gets warmer up here in NY. Would you have a pic of the floor? Did your floor come separate or was it glued to the body? or ? I'd like to see how the floor was attached to the body. Was the Bad Ass body lower in price compared to all the others out there?
I can't wait to start mine.
