After viewing post /thread, it disappears if I opt to see new posts. Has also happened after responding to a post. On the old setup, when opting for new posts, I would see all posts, with newest at top. Just wondering if I'm doing something wrong. Thanks

Still waiting for an answer to above guestion. I am getting use to the new format (never really completely figured out previous setup) but I still don't understand where the posts go after I view them. Sometimes I want to go back to re-read and if I have "refreshed ", I can't find the posts. I generally just look at the forum that has everything. The way I am approaching the new setup is like when I first learned computers, just push the ****ons and see what comes up. Thanks, Ron

I guess I'm not sure I follow. The posts don't go anywhere once you read them. Can you give me an example?

I have the same issue, almost. But thats because I'm stupid.

I goes to the unread folder, when on the app. Because then is it possible to see all new threads, dosen't matter if it's for sale, custom or hot rods. But if I hit the top left back ****on, I've end up out of the thread, instead of first page. And the i can't see it any more, because it's no longer unread.
    I don't think this is an app/HAMB flaw, but a to-big-thumbs-issue.

Is that some of the problem you get?

Awe. Are we talking about the app here?

Frankly, the app ****s. I don't have much control over it these days due to tapatalk. I'd pull the plug on it entirely if so many folks didn't rely on it. I think the site is better through a mobile browser.

Well here's me sticking my neck out and taking some wild guesses. Maybe we'll both learn something if we're lucky.

Defining the terminology used by this site can be a bit tricky. To me, "Viewing New Posts" means "Viewing Unread Posts". And I could be wrong about this. But this site keeps track somehow of the posts you've already read, or at least displayed on your screen. When you come back to the thread in an hour or a day or a week and any new posts have been added, a red dot appears next to the thread ***le. Click on the red dot and,in a perfect world, it should open the page at the first unread (new) post. At least it usually works that way, but not always.

Clicking on the thread ***le should take you to the first post in the thread, regardless of whether you've read it before ot not. Again, it seems to do this usually, but not always.

I used to think that all this information about what you have and haven't read was stored on my computer, but now I'm not so sure. Accessing the site from work seems to keep track of things from where I left off reading a post at home and vice versa.

A thread disappearing, say from the first page of a forum, may be just the result of a lack of activity or new posts to the thread. Say there's a lot of people visiting the site and making a lot of posts. There might be 20 threads on the first page of the forum but all the new posts are only made to maybe 17 or 18 topics. And a few people start new posts on the first page. And a couple threads from page 4 get some new replies which bumps them back to the first page. Well if a couple threads that were on the first page had no new responses they drop down the list and pretty soon they're on page 2 or 3. If the site is really hopping this can just take a matter of 5 or 10 minutes sometimes.

And I'm not sure but I think I've noticed some other new behavior since the site update. You used to have to hit the refresh ****on to keep everything current on the first page. I think I've detected the site refreshing the page automatically from time to time without any involvement from me. Or it might just be one of these "funny" browsers I've been experimenting with.

Got it. We have some known problems with a couple of browsers on the first unread thing. Images paced in posts messes this up - typically it's either an old IE problem or an iPad/iphone issue. I'm working on that.

As for threads disappearing, I'll have to test that. I haven't noticed that at all.

Thanks for the responses. On previous format when I hit "new posts", it would refresh with all posts. If I added to a post and the hit new posts, I would see my post at the top or close to top. I understand that if there is a lot of activity and no responses to a thread it moves down the page. But now whether I respond or just view a thread, it disappears from that page when I hit new posts. If I go to other forums I can sometimes find them. It could be as mentioned above that nin order ew posts means ones I haven't viewed. I'm just saying that it is different from before as with some other things (which is okay). And now maybe I've confused myself. I'm not super on computers, but the bottom line is, I enjoy the site and will do what I need to do so I can continue to enjoy it. To answer Ryan's guestion, I am not using an App. I use a tablet. Ron

The site, when on my computer, is very nice, but I seldom use my computer, after I got my iPhone/iPad. I'm often on the go, at work, or just out of my house.
On the last version of the HAMB, I did'nt use the web based version, because I had some issues with the seach function.
When going in to the search folder/Roll down, I coulden't type in the seach folder right away, I had to push it two times, then i could write one letter, had to re open it again tab twice, write the rest of the seach name. And Sometimes redo the proces, so I stopped using it.
Then I got the app. I could seach, i could read my subscriptions.

When I find a longer thread I wantes to read, I send it to safari for further Reading.
Because my app lives it own life, and can't be trusted! It crasher, start over when I used another app, and the dang commercial!
So I hope this will be a short Lived problem!
Or that I get use to using safari before you pull the plug on the app.

And thanks for the beautiful new HAMB, it looks dang good, at most problems I have had outside the app might be big-thumbs and start up deficulty on my part.

Here's a little more quirky desktop behavior if you're interested.

Got an email notice of a new reply to a watched/subscribed thread. Clicked the link and opened to a new page in Avant browser. But it didn't go to the first unread post and even the most recent post did not display the "New" post marker at the right side of the reply window.

Now here's one of the unusual features of Avant. You can use any of four rendering engines to open a page. You can change the setting on the fly or open duplicate tabs of the same page with different rendering. What I noticed is different results when hovering over the member's avatar. With Chrome or Firefox rendering the member information overlay appeared as expected. With the IE or IE8 rendering the avatar photo disappeared leaving just the border around a white background.

All of which may prove nothing.
