These are the lights for my 37 Dodge truck gauges, they are 3/4, diameter everything I find is 5/8. If I find the 3/4 it's the large bulb and I need the small one they can be modern wires just need to find them. I should say the clips are a 3/4 diameter. Anyone have a place?
It doesn't look like you need complete new sockets. Just put new wire in it. Go to this sight Rhode Island Wiring Service Inc. and go to supplies. You can buy just the Connecter button as well as correct color coaded cloth wire by the foot or the roll. It's as easy as that.
Another great resource might be Restoration Supply, check out the link https://restorationstuff.com/about-us/ Pat
And closer to home you can find the new replacement pigtail wire kit (as seen below) at your local NAPA auto parts store. HRP
Carquest and other parts stores have complete sockets w/pigtails or just the pigtails to replace yours. Here is thread I did on redoing some tail lights a few years ago Tech? Refurbishing Swap Meet Tailights | The H.A.M.B. (jalopyjournal.com) Just a pigtail. Can be bought in many configurations For an internet search use the terms AUTOMOTIVE WIRING PARTS and/or PIGTAILS or SOCKETS
Tips from an electrically challenged individual. Won't they be 6 volt bulbs ? You can probably derust what you have by soaking it for a day or two in some citric acid and then rinsing it real good. Solder some new wires on.
If all you need to replace is the wire and contact button, a lo-buck and easy to get alternative is a steel pop rivet body. Use a suitable size rivet (probably a 1/16" or 3/32"), remove the mandril, then crimp the rivet body onto the wire with a little bit of wire protruding above the rivet flange. Solder the wire/flange junction for your contact button and reinstall. If you want a corrosion-proof contact, use a stainless rivet and silver solder. If the contact spring is toast, it may get a bit more complicated, but a lot of hardware stores have small spring assortments.
Have a look at british motorcycles of the 70s. Norton Commandos have those sockets to light their tacho and rev counters, they should still be available
I bought a bag of brass rivet eyelets for a dollar. Had about 100 in. Just soldered the wires into those, uncrimped they fit into the sockets just fine. Phil
Thanks for the input, I got it covered now, just had to look at it differently. I will buy new pigtails. Tony
