Well, maybe if I share my pain I might be able to stop kicking myself in the****. Last week a local Museum in Buffalo , The Pierce Arrow Museum held an auction. I went, it was for a good cause, 10 buck at the gate, 10% buyers commission all proceeds went to the museum. Well the Museum turns out to be a reall y cool place, gonna have to go back when I can spend more time! Anyway I had a friend with me and ran into another friend I hadn't seen for quite a few years. While I was chatting it up i missed out on this Now I am in no way a model T guy but this sold for $400 bucks and can't stop kicking myself for messing that up. Oh yeah, then I was so pised about missing that T I then missed this 32 Dodge It went for $1400. It has been a week now and it still hurts that I messed that up!
I am sorry you missed either one. I am not necessarily a T guy either, but I would have loved to have that one as well. Good luck next time...
$400, you sure did mess up. lol, theres more out there. Dont be to hard on yourself, we cant own em all.
From what I can see that T has the accessorie Tail/Stop light. Check eBay and see if any sell for under $200.00. We all learn from mistakes, better luck next time.
You said, "In no way am I a Model T guy." What would've been your plans? Just resell it? If your bummed 'cause you missed a good basis for you to build a hot rod, then I feel for ya.
wow..... i've never seen an auction like that before. way cool.... did you just get outbid or did you not bid at all? that 32 dodge is a gem...
Most of the cars there went slow bid, I played along. No one bid, the auctioneer asked what do you guys want to pay some said 200, then some one went 300, 350, 400 and 30 sec later bidding over. Honestly the Auctioneer kept changing the tempo, one car he would drag on and on trying to push the price up then he fast played these cars. Open to close the auction on this one took maybe 2 min. Then on to the next. Really messed me up , along with the other distractions of my friends being there.
If it makes you feel better the T sold for $400.00 but the person that won it may have bid it up alot higher than that so you really don't know what it would have gone up too.You may have just let him buy it for alot less then he was willing to spend. But next time don't be an idiot and bid!!!!
Well 400 was a steal, but that 10 percent buyers premium puts you at $440, not a steal..... Feel better NOW?
im sure just about everyone on the HAMB has a kick me story , i have my share also , we feel your pain
Keep in mind .... the price could have gone quite a bit higher if the person that did win the auction had you bidding against them. I was at an auction several years ago where a VW Bug went for $85 (only one bidder) ... I decided (same auction) to bid on the second Bug. Problem was, there was one other bidder on this one ... I bid it up to $600 then quit. If I had not been there the other guy could have gotten it for $85. Looks to have been a cool auction.
