So I wanna go out to my ranch, build a bunker with a lift and concrete lid.... when I die I wanna be put in my woody and lowered into the ground and the lid put on.. and it's legal in nev and az....

In addition to the District of Columbia, only three states have outlawed home burial. They are Indiana, California, and Washington State.

    who would have guessed that????...lol

Lots of family burial plots on their own land here in the south. One of my wife’s distant cousins dug his own, then shot himself, falling into it. Of course, they had to get him out and do an autopsy because it was considered a violent death, but they did bury him there properly after that. His sister is now buried beside him as well as a grandson. He was a roughhouse, always in trouble with the law, but never anything more serious than hauling whiskey or bootlegging, but he spent a lot of time in the gray bar motel.

Guess you could make a burial mound over the garage.

Using your car as a casket makes no sense at all.
Instead, let your memory live on by giving your car to someone to enjoy.

I read on here where a member post
"woody's aren't worth anything, and no one wants to buy them,.. for the price of a casket, I'd rather be buried in my woody. and just as a favor to other members,... I'll take the worthless woodys off your hands..

  8. This is a miniature urn that I made into a shift knob. When you die just have 'em cremate your happy ass and put a scoop of the ashes in there and install you on the shift lever. Then whenever your heir takes your favorite vehicle for a drive you always get to come along and bang some gears.

  11. I would sure hate to buy a house and find a grave on it. Ya can't just ignore it, you either got to keep it up or try to have it moved.
Not to mention all the chains rattling at night....

By the way...you are lucky....I haven't had a "woody" in years....

We just held our annual Nostalgia night drag racers reunion. This year in honoree of Jim Barillaro. When Jim was cremated his family placed him in a 2.5 gallon Moon gas tank with his birth and passing dates on the tank an excellent idea. The family brought Jim to the event it was a touching experience and I will say a great idea.

Did I read that Brian @racer-x put a drag racing friends' ashes in his parachute and sent his friend to his final resting place.
I have told my wife that this would be my wish also.

  15. Being buried in it isn’t taking it with you
Just keeping it from anyone else.
    Kinda the ultimate selfishness

What will happen if a child or grandchild decides to move from the property and sell the property? Will he or she be responsible to relocate the buried body? It could be a real problem and an expensive one!

When the time comes, the Veterans Administration is sending my wife and I on a Pacific tour. You know, Hawaii, Guam, Japan, Bali High (or low?), etc. We put my younger son in the wall with his brother last week. Both couped up overlooking the 10 Freeway. The VA gave us the choice of a very nice cemetery near Riverside. We opted for the Pacific Tour including the no-extra-cost water-soluble urn. As to the cars, they're accounted for.

Hmm. A burial inspired by the movie Used Cars.

Stan do I understand correctly? You lost two sons, if so my deepest condolences to you and your wife. Thank you for your service!
    Sincerely

I would give the woody to someone that will appreciate it and respect it. Let it & you live on in someones memory. Put a small brass memorial tag on the firewall. Anyways. I had a collection of books of Model T books with one of owners stories. This reminded me of the fellow that wanted to be buried in his Model T as there wasn't a mud hole that his Ford model T couldn't get out of.

Take it with you supposes you're going somewhere, for all practical purposes " you" end , never to be seen or heard from again , you're not actually " going " anywhere .

My neighbor's son passed from Cancer a couple of years ago, his dad and him had spent a lot of time on the strip (it helped keep his son out of trouble:). The race car that dad, then son raced (a 50 Chevy) is now being driven/raced by the grandson and I believe last year some of his ashes were spread on the strip that he frequented.

Another friend (his dad and I went to school together) asked that his friends run some of his ashes through the 70 Challenger that he had spent lots of time working on. They drove the car up to the grave site and did exactly as he asked. I miss him, he wanted to wanted to build a non stock car after fighting with the Dodge Challenger to keep it "perfect". He just didn't last long enough.

I miss both of those young men:(

  30. I looked at a house in the early 90's and in the back yard between two trees was a damn headstone, had a first, middle, last name and dates. We asked the realtor about it and he said it was the family dog, I said a dog doesn't have a middle name and my wife at the time said we are not buying that house. Lol
